Ways to Give

Prescott Free Clinic

The dream of a free clinic in Prescott was envisioned by three local nurses and the subject of their senior project for their bachelor’s degrees in nursing in 1993. By 1994, the same three nurses had set up a not for profit organization and named it the Prescott Free Clinic, Inc. The purpose of the organization was to provide medical services to patients who were low-income or did not have insurance. The clinic was open two evenings per week and staffed entirely by volunteers. After seven years of operation, the demand for services was too great to be met through a part-time volunteer-based operation; therefore, in 2002 Prescott Free Clinic entered into a partnership with Yavapai County to form Community Health Center of Yavapai (CHCY).

Now for more than 15 years, Community Health Center of Yavapai has and continues to provide comprehensive, integrated primary health care to all patients, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. In 2018 alone, our health center served more than 13,000 patients, of which 41% were uninsured.

Tax-deductible contributions made to Prescott Free Clinic allows the Board of Directors to allocate funds to assist patients who require specialty care they may not be able to afford, in addition to supplying patients with basic medical equipment that is necessary for their health.

In 2018/2019, donations to Prescott Free Clinic allowed CHCY to cover the costs of the following specialty services to our patients:

  • 6 cardiology consults
  • 5 echocardiograms
  • 1 dermatology consults
  • 2 Biopsy
  • 2 surgical consults
  • 1 neurology consults
  • 1 Pathology
  • 1 Pulse Ox 3 night testing
  • 1 C-Pap Machine and Supplies

Pediatric patients were assisted with the aid of donation funding by receiving cardiology consultations which included diagnostics, such as:

  • Stress Tests
  • Pulse Oximetry
  • Electrocardiogram
  • Transthoracic Echocardiogram
  • Doppler Flow Mapping Echocardiogram

In addition to specialty services, donations to PFC allowed our providers to generously provide basic medical equipment to patients such as blood pressure monitor cuffs, glucose monitors, test strips, and lancets to sliding fee scale patients in desperate need.

Your contribution of any amount will go a long way toward helping our community health center deliver top quality care and treatment to our large patient population that is in need of quality care.
